Join Us for a Moderated Micro Discussion
Thinking about Individuals and Groups
Join us for a fascinating exploration as we pose questions, share ideas, and reflect on individuals and groups as seen through the lenses of three very different disciplines: Biology, Sociology, and Art History.
Three Fields, Three Perspectives
Humans are social animals — but not the only ones. And we coordinate our actions at many levels, from immediate physical situations (e.g., social distancing), to institutionalized practices (e.g., courts, hospitals), to national symbols (e.g., flags, monuments).
What mechanisms mediate between the individual and the group?
How do different disciplines model and analyze these mechanisms?
(Short backgrounder provided to participants in advance.)
Semper Curious is a community of learners exploring science, society, and the arts. Informal, yet substantive, with diverse topics and formats, including small-group discussions with university guest scholars.
